GuideWhat a campsite. We were here in late May, almost zero bugs(it was too cold). Big spacious sites, we tented in site 4 although in the generator loop area we couldn’t hear them over the waves of superior. Amazing views and a clean pit toilet right across the way. Enough toilets so this one didn’t get much use.
TravelerWe found this location a much to my shock it was very large. BUT on day two we had a not in our tent from the DNR. This spot is not correct. We cross referenced this with three maps in the beginning before we went and after we arrived just to double check. One being the DNR website map. They are all incorrect. Do not go here, it is NIT a campsite. After speaking to the amazingly sweet DNR officer, and exchanging pics of maps she advised us our best bet in the future is to use the county gis and onX maps to be sure we are in the correct spots in the future. Also if you look at this and think we must be really close if this isn’t it, wrong. State land is quite a ways away. Oh and if you are on and ate etc… and are thinking it is a through trail it is not, (only in the winter) and nacho taco food truck was not open like it said it was so it’s a gamble. For identification purposes I am adding pics.
GuideJoeIda is a prefect get-away! The sites are large and well separated from each other. The pit toilets are super nice and clean! There is a water pump for potable water. There is quite a bit of available wood on the ground for campfires. The trees in this area offer great shade. The 1 mile dirt road in was recently graded. I would stay here again when in the area!!

GuideMany sites are right on water. Empty in late May, even on Saturday night. Road noise is not an issue.
